#21.6 - Sevensational: The Spirit of Knowledge
Proverbs 24:5 (CSB), “A wise warrior is better than a strong one, and a man of knowledge than one of strength.”
Ahh here we are…The Spirit of Knowledge. Knowledge and Wisdom are two of my favorite characteristics of Holy Spirit because some of us have spiritual gifts we are given within our identity in Christ that rely on Holy Spirit to guide us which requires unparalleled obedience. For example, when I began writing this Holy Spirit driven blog…did I KNOW that I would have readers in so many other countries? NO WAY!!! That is such a blessing beyond measure. When I first started this blog…I trusted God enough to know I’d at least have readers. How did I know that though? Because I trusted what Holy Spirit is calling me to do which gave me the knowledge to act upon…which equals out to be obedience. Am I obedient because I expect to be blessed? Absolutely not, I long to give my free will to Abba and to be connected with Him. Do I know that God blesses us in His perfect timing? Yes. So I am not concerned about when I get blessed because in my ecosystem I know God has already blessed me beyond measure. This is also the reason I have struggled to rely on God during this time of current trial in my life to be honest, not due to lack of trust but because I know He’s done so much for me; that is a blog for another time though. Just like strength and trust go and in hand…so does knowledge and trust.
We call The Bible “God’s word” and “God’s truth” for a reason…because the faith inside of us knows that we are confused, encountering chaos, enduring trials, and feeling suffering…we can always go back to trusting and trusting the truth. I noticed something interesting as well with this…the words “trust and truth” are similar in root and sound so I Googled the similarities: “"Truth " and "Trust" are semantically and etymologically related, sharing roots associated with firmness, reliability, and confidence. "Truth" (veracity, accuracy) represents reality, while "Trust" (faith, reliance) is the confidence in that reality. Both often imply a shared, firm foundation of honesty.” But…get this…it goes on to freely give me the Hebrew similarities: “In Hebrew, both “emet” (truth) and “emun” (trust) originate from the same root (א-מ-נ), highlighting a deep linguistic connection between truth and the reliability required for trust.” To be fair, Google could’ve given me any other language so I find it no coincidence that Hebrew was given in the word similarities between “truth and trust”. Similarly the words, “Know” and “Knowledge” have the same roots! So back to “The Googles”: “"Know" (verb) and "knowledge" (noun) are cognates sharing the same root, representing the action and state of understanding. They share semantic ground with terms like awareness, comprehension, expertise, and recognition. "Knowledge" derives from Middle English knowleche, combining "know with the suffix -leche (action/state).” The takeaway is founded in…ROOTS! Merriam Webster's definition of "Root" gives me some solid points to share about what I am being led to reveal to you: Roots = 1: Something that is an origin or source. 2: a special or close relationship with an environment. 3: An underlying support. 4: The essential core. ROOTING ourselves in God’s truth (The Bible) gives us knowledge. Not our personal truth. Not your mom’s truth. Not your Dad’s truth. Not your sibling’s truth. Not your best friend’s truth. Not your spouse’s truth. Not your boss’s truth. Not your antagonist’s truth. And certainly not the enemy’s truth. God’s truth is the only truth that matters which is also why it’s important to surround yourself with those that ROOT themselves in God’s truth and embrace His knowledge. We are all freely given REAL knowledge that we have a choice to implement into our life on Earth…AKA…our REAL-ity (going back to roots and the word truth that implemented the idea of reality and connecting the root REAL and REAL-ity) straight from the ONE ultimate divine source that is The Beginning and the End we have the privilege to call…God…Yahweh…or as I like to call Him…Abba. I don’t know about you but I have heard countless times from others (and even used this excuse in my own past when it was convenient for me), “No one made a manual for life!!!” or “No one made a manual for this ______situation I am in!!!” I’d like to argue with my past self but it is pointless because she no longer exists…but for the sake of knowing her various situational reasoning(s) behind using the “manual excuse”...I am going to make some points rooted in truth as I am in God’s word and gain knowledge from Him daily. The Bible’s “The Book of Life” or “The Lamb’s Book of Life” is different than the concept I am about to make as those names reference spiritual registry listing individuals who have trusted in Christ for salvation, as seen in Revelation 20:15 (NIV), “Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.” The Bible itself is not that registry but in my opinion…it is a Book of Life because we are to follow Jesus who is Life! Not the book of Lukewarm Living. Not the book of Death. I believe the “manual” for Life everyone was seeking, is actively seeking, or will seek…is The Bible that holds God’s word, truth, and knowledge. If you think about it…The Bible considered as “life’s manual” can be connected to several different ideas linked to life as we know it:
A simplistic explanation: The Bible is God’s recording from the beginning of time and life (sounds like a root to me).
John 14:6 (NIV): Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Jesus is The Lamb and we are to follow Jesus. Jesus is THE WAY to LIFE.
It’s a knowledge filled manual for our lives here on Earth as it is in Heaven. Life in Heaven is eternal life and The Bible gives us the knowledge that there is life beyond Earth that is spent with God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, and believers,
It’s a knowledge filled guide on how to respond in our lives when we feel lost, confused, chaotic, less than, destroyed, like we don’t understand, and the inability to see who we truly are.
It is a prophetic source of knowledge to help us to navigate our lives until God decides that it’s our time to go home… to Heaven.
We DO have a manual for Life afterall-The Bible! We not only have Biblical knowledge at our fingertips but we also have God’s knowledge rooted in our minds, hearts, bodies, and spirits.
Our bodies obey God’s design for us to automatically breathe; the ability to automatically breathe is controlled by our autonomic nervous systems (or involuntary nervous system), which manages unconscious bodily functions…rooted in divine knowledge which was God’s design. We know, believe, and trust that God IS love and our lives are to be lived by accepting and rooting Jesus into our hearts…therefore….our hearts are filled with God’s heart knowledge. Proverbs 18:15 (CSB) reinforces knowledge within our minds, "The mind of the discerning acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks it. Our mind is sharpened when we understand and comprehend God’s word and truth as we root ourselves into His knowledge. God’s design also gave us Holy Spirit so that we can know how to act and react in the world, flesh, and by battling the enemy. When we are spiritually connected to God through Jesus and guided by Holy Spirit’s “spirit of knowledge” our spirits are equipped for battle and linked to God’s knowledge. Side Note: I will say…as someone with a God given gift of prophecy…it can feel defeating at times knowing things while simultaneously not knowing details, having all the answers, or being privy to all the moving parts in the midst of God’s mystery…I say this because NONE of us are meant to know everything or have all the answers…(I truly think our brains would explode if we knew everything-we weren’t created to know it all) this is why we are called to have faith and must have a direct and personal relationship reliant on Abba. God’s word clearly states that we are to trust Abba without our own understanding involved, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”. Abba is the ONLY one that has the knowledge and understanding we should be seeking…so it makes sense rooted in God’s truth and word that we should be rooting our faith in Him. God’s truth tells us in Proverbs 2:6 (CSB), "For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding". The Lord GAVE us Holy Spirit…Jesus GIVES us the way, truth, and life…and God GIVES us eternal life. The enemy would like us to be separated from God’s knowledge and He’s been trying to hinder and sever that pivotal relationship we are meant to have with Abba since the beginning of time. So this week’s Stages of Attack (SoA) will look different yet again. The questions to consider, think about, and pay on will remain but underneath the question will be a scripture…God’s truth and knowledge freely given to us to provoke thought and to help us combat the enemy’s attempts to attack or hinder us from knowledge.
Stage 1: Confusion
Question to pray on:
What are some ways that the enemy can try to interfere with knowledge by using confusion?
God’s Knowledge:
John 8:32 (CSB) You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Think about the word roots of truth and trust…real and reality…
Stage 2: Chaos
Question to pray on:
What are some ways that the enemy can try to interfere with knowledge by using chaos?
God’s Knowledge:
2 Peter 3:18 (CSB) But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity.
The act of growing versus the physical proof of stagnation and chaos.
Stage 3: Theft
Question to pray on:
What are some ways that the enemy can try to interfere with knowledge by using theft?
God’s Knowledge:
1 Corinthians 2:14 (CSB), “But the person without the Spirit does not receive what comes from God’s Spirit, because it is foolishness to him; he is not able to understand it since it is evaluated spiritually.
/The person without the Spirit./
The Bible also warns us about theft of divine words, misusing authority to restrict truth, and promoting false teachings.
Stage 4: Destroy
Question to pray on:
What are some ways that the enemy can try to interfere with knowledge by using destruction?
God’s Knowledge:
Hosea 4:6 (CSB) "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
I’mmm just gonna leave this here-LOL!
Stage 5: Kill
Question to pray on:
What are some ways that the enemy can try to interfere with knowledge by killing?
God’s Knowledge:
Colossians 1:9-14: For this reason also, since the day we heard this, we haven’t stopped praying for you. We are asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, so that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, so that you may have great endurance and patience, joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the saints’ inheritance in the light. He has rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son he loves. In him we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
“He has rescued us from darkness” Through faith in Jesus and His grace filled sacrifice…we conquer death.
