#25: Shifting Gears

Confession time…I am NOT good about putting my clothes away after taking the time to fold them.  The mound of cloth on top of my dresser is mostly black with color speckled in and the lighting in our home isn’t always the greatest, especially depending on the weather.  I always wear scrubs to work with a black under shirt.  I wear black ankle socks because I am OCD and know I wear a black under shirt so it “matches” (as if anyone would care but me).  Thursday of last week, I reached into my sock drawer, looked around, dug for a pair of black socks for the life of me…and the ONLY pair of socks I could literally find were white socks.   No matter how long I looked, how far I dug, or how I rearranged things in the drawer…there were only white socks.…how annoying…but they do the job and cover my feet…it is what it is.  I didn’t have further time to fuss with it, so I just took the white socks and ran with it.  I cared nothing more about it until I was reminded when I got home and took the white socks off with a chuckle.  As exhausted as I have been feeling lately, I got up Friday morning and once again looked at my drawer and internally groaned as I opened it up.  I immediately see a pair of white socks and shake my head and thought  “Here we go again.”.  I reached in and somehow…pulled out a black pair of socks.  Jathan hadn’t been in my sock drawer because all of the socks were still in a basket.  I was truly amazed…and my immediate thought was gratitude, “Thank you God! You even care for something as  silly and simple as my socks.”  I felt it was God helping me out.

I’ve got one more experience to share along with this.  One Sunday afternoon, I was driving home from church.  Jathan was being dispatched to an injured deer on the highway.  Sadly, there are times when the deer requires peace beyond their injuries.  I was on the phone with Jathan when he was dispatched to that call.  He wasn’t looking forward to the scene because he knew what he may have to do and how sad I felt about it.  I told him that I pray the deer is okay and that he didn’t have to neutralize the deer.  He was getting close to his destination so we hung up.   I immediately prayed to God for two thing:  1) that Jathan that he wouldn’t have to bring the deer peace beyond its injuries and 2) that the deer would actually be okay to live.  I got an update shortly after and keep in mind…all of that transpired beforehand.  Here’s the facts:  An injured deer was found on a 4 lane highway.  Jathan said the back two legs were definitely broken.  As Jathan approached the deer…the deer got up and literally crossed a 4 lane highway…and the deer somehow made it safely across the highway and ran into the woods.  Now, I don’t know about you…but something like that may not happen everyday. We were in awe that it could have moved at all with the description I go in the update.  We don’t know if the deer lived or died…but in my faith…I trust God hears us, His word says so…and He’s the promise keeper.  I prayed for two things and one thing for certain happened, the unimaginable unfolding before Jathan’s eyes. The truth is, I don’t know the probability of the deer living or dying at that point…but I can say…I know God heard my prayer.  I believe the deer was healed of its injuries.  Yet, in  the end, it doesn’t matter because God provided a physical experience of His movement.  No coincidences with God.

It has officially been a year since I began this blog…all based on no coincidences with God, Jesus, or Holy Spirit.  We feel Holy Spirit prompting Jathan and I in way that will change #Satisfied.  I have taken time to reflect upon the stories and things I have written.  I am at peace with what I have written and will be continuing writing miraculous stories as they arise.  Until those moments arise or I am prompted by Holy Spirit, my writing will be spontaneous. Jathan and I are shifting gears into a new season of our life. I don’t want to give away TOO much here…but next week…Monday the 17th of August we are RECORDING a couple’s podcast on the realities of life and how we should walk it out according to God’s Word.  We are exercising our vulnerability and will be using our experiences or stories we may have heard (where names will be altered to keep privacy) and taking scriptures to help us and our families live a holy life; that “kingdom over culture” life.  The podcast will be POSTED LATER on a later day in the week (stay tuned).  How this idea came about is also a miracle and that’s where I am going to stop because again…I can’t give it all away here.

We are keeping #Satisfied’s website up so nothing will change other than a tab added to the #Satisfied website for the podcast, and spontaneous writing where I will the promote the blog post on social media as I post. It is easier for me to write when prompted by Holy Spirit than to do a timed writing project; this also allows more time to focus on what God is calling Jathan and I to do.

Thank you all for your grace and understanding. I have reflected, discerned, prayed, heard, and I am embodying obedience to Abba.  Time has been a struggle for me lately as well and I know God feels me on that too.  I am still experiencing health issues and hoping to get more answers soon.  Long story short, had none of what happened to me earlier this year when I was hospitalized…we wouldn’t have known the things we needed to know currently which is good because “knowing is half the battle”.  I know God surely works in mysterious ways and I am grateful.

For God’s non-coincidences and movement, Jesus’s love and sacrifice, Holy Spirit’s guidance and voice…I am…
